Safeguarding and Protecting Children
Improve your awareness of safeguarding and protecting children, and recognise signs of abuse and poor practice. Find out more and book your place.
Please note that if ten or more people need to go on a Safeguarding & Protecting Children's workshop from your organisation, we can arrange a bespoke workshop at your venue.
First Aid for Sport
This 4-hour theory and practical based First Aid for Sport course is tailored for sport coaches and fitness professionals. Find out more and book your place.
Time to Listen
Time to Listen is a 3-hour course for Club Welfare Officers (CWO).
CWOs must have attended a Safeguarding and Protecting Children workshop previously and will need to bring their own reporting procedures to the workshop. We encourage CWO’s from all sports to attend the workshop as this will provide opportunities to learn from each other.
The workshop will:
- describe how a club welfare officer works with others to create a child centred environmentexplain
- how the club welfare officer role fits into the wider safeguarding environment
- apply learning to case studies including sharing good safeguarding practice
(Please note that this workshop is being run by a neighbouring County Sports Partnership, not Active Surrey.)
Sunday 29 October
1pm – 4pm, Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre
Sport psychology - attention and motivation
Are you looking for ways to maximise the performance of those you coach? It's important to understand how you can improve their mental skills as well as their physical talents. Whether it be for training or competition, mental skills can be taught and practiced, just like any other ability.
This workshop will explore how coaches can get the most out of their athletes, starting with the theory and demonstrating how this can be applied to develop strategies.
Attention and present-moment focus
Enhance your understanding of attention and concentration when it comes to sport. This course will explore strategies to develop your athlete’s ability to optimally focus, and avoid distraction in training and competition.
Thursday 9 November
6:30pm - 8:30pm, Woking
Book your place on 'Attention and present moment focus'
Words used, tone of voice or even body language can affect users' opinions of fitness providers. Most importantly of all it can influence trust, particularly where organisations don't encourage two way communication.
This EFDS workshop will reference their Inclusive Communications Guide, giving clubs and activity providers insight into a wealth of information and helping them improve access to sport for everyone.
Tuesday 21 November
6 - 9pm, Guildford
