Surrey Sports Workshops


These preferential-rate workshops provide the opportunity for people who deliver physical activity to gain a practical and theoretical grounding that they can apply in their sessions.

Most workshops listed below can be booked and paid online via Surrey County Council's payment system - please follow the relevant link.

'Motivate Me' - inspiring the over 50's to action

The Motivate Me course is designed to enthuse coaches to find ways of helping older people motivate themselves and be more active. It is for professionals and volunteers involved in promoting active ageing, physical activity and exercise with older people.

Inclusive Communications - engaging with disabled sportspeople

The way organisations talk, the words used, the tone of voice and even body language can affect any user's opinion of a sport or fitness provider and most of all, their trust in them.  Learn more on this thought provoking course from EFDS (English Federation of Disabled Sport).

Inspiring Inclusive Sport

As part of Inclusive Sport Month, Active Surrey are hosting an Inspiring Inclusive Sport evening. Aimed at those who are currently coaching athletes with disabilities, or those wanting to make their sessions more inclusive. Delegates will have the opportunity to hear from a range of speakers with different expertise around dealing with disability and disability coaching. Otago Strength & Balance Exercise Programme

This two day course is for exercise professionals working with older adults (aged 50+) at low risk of falls.

The Otago Exercise Programme (OEP) is recognised worldwide by health, social care and exercise professionals and will train you to be knowledgeable, competent and confident in leading the 24 exercises that make up the OEP.  There will be an assessment day in July (date TBC) to gain the qualification.

Successful delegates will be required to deliver at least 1 OEP course in conjunction with a Get active 50+ course following qualification.

Funding workshop

Find out about some of the current grant funding opportunities open to clubs and organisations delivering sport/physical activity in Surrey.

Our resident funding advisers (Lawrie Baker and Eli Karlicka-Cook) will outline some of the potential sources and give practical tips to help improve your chances of a successful application. You will have the opportunity to ask questions about applications you are working on or planning, as well as book in for a 121 follow up appointment.

Club Experience: Youth

The world is changing, how do you ensure your club is chosen over all the other opportunities that are competing for people's leisure time? By making it a place people want to keep on coming back to. This workshop provides support and information to help you make this happen.
