Active Surrey provide PE, school sport and physical activity services and opportunities across all phases, for ALL schools in Surrey.

The Active Schools Team (including School Games Organisers) work in partnership with local (Babcock 4S, Surrey Outdoor Learning Development, Local Authorities) and national (National Governing Bodies of Sport, afPE, UK Coaching, Youth Sport Trust, Sport England) partners to provide a network of support, advice, training and resources.

Primary PE & Sport Premium guidance

The Department for Education has published new guidance on the doubled Primary PE and Sport Premium funding and there are additions to the details that all schools should be aware of.

View the new guidance from GOV.UK, which includes:
1. Funding formula and payment dates for 2017 to 2018
2. How to use the Primary PE and Sport Premium
3. Accountability (Ofsted Inspections, Online Reporting and new Accountability Reviews*)

* Accountability - you are required to publish spending details on your school website by April 2018. We advise you use this revised web template which gives you clear guidance on the level of detail you need to report on. Please also view the latest Exemplification document.

Star Mark (KS1)

Star Mark allows infant and primary schools to gain recognition for their achievements in PE and schools sport and is assessed across 3 star levels. Similar to the School Games Mark (for KS2), the KS1 Star Mark will be valid for one academic year. Application can be made between 4 september and 15 December 2017 based on data and evidence from the previuos academic year (2016-17).

Active Schools Conference - Understanding the Impact of an Active School   

The 2017 conference took place at Surrey Sports Park on 2 November and sought to help infant, primary and secondary schools in their everyday PE and sport provision, as well as helping them understand their influence over the long term wellbeing of their staff, pupils and families.

The keynote presentation from Dr William Bird (MBE) examined the Dr Birdimportance of physical activity and its impact on our mental and physical wellbeing - and how today's inactive lifestyles can affect our children for decades to come.
