School Sport in Surrey

Active Surrey employs the School Games team and work in partnership with Babcock 4S, Surrey Outdoor Learning Development, National Governing Bodies of Sport, Local Authorities and other national partners (such as Youth Sport Trust, Sport England) to help co-ordinate, support and deliver high quality PE and school sport for young people.

Primary School Sport Conference - Understanding the Impact of an Active School   

This regular event features bespoke workshops to help you imcrease the activity levels of your pupils and gain the benefits that come from engaging children in school sport.

Taking place at Surrey Sports Park, Guildford on Thursday 2 November, 8:30am - 3:45pm, there'll be a keynote address from Dr William Bird with guest speaker and former Team GB cyclist Joanna Roswell Shand.

Star Mark (KS1) and the School Games Mark (KS2+)

Star Mark is an Active Surrey initiative to bring similar county-wide recognition for KS1 schools and more importantly, allow schools to map a path for the development of teaching staff in delivering PE and school sport.

You can apply for Star Mark from 4 September - 15 December 2017. The award will be made on the basis of the last academic year, and you can learn more about the suporting evidence that will sit alongside your application. For more information contact sarah.williams@surreycc.gov.uk

The long-established School Games Mark forms part of OFSTED's inspection framework and recognises KS2 (and above) schools who value competition in school sport. 

Surrey School Games

Surrey School Games is a programme of intra and inter school competition, young leaders opportunities, Change 4 Life clubs, school accreditation (School Mark) scheme and inclusive sport. It also includes the Surrey Para Games, run for the benefit of secondary school children with additional needs in Years 7-10.

The county competition programme features a variety of qualifying and open entry events, catering for all schools and all age groups and abilities.

Surrey School Games Leadership opportunities 2016-17

The Surrey Leadership Academy ‘Learn2Lead’ provides a pathway for people to develop as leaders, volunteers and coaches.

From training through to deployment, the opportunities available will develop new skills and enhance personal development. Active Surrey has developed a number of progressive and inclusive opportunities for both new and experienced leaders.
