We are encouraging all Surrey Schools to use chairs less and move more on Friday 26 April - On Your Feet Britain Day.
On #StandUpSurrey day we will be recording what is going on across the county, focussing on the seven Active areas associated with PALSS - travel, assembly, learning, bursts, playground, homework and staff.
To celebrate, prizes are on offer, including to those schools tweeting the best pictures with the hashtag #StandUpSurrey on 26 April.
Prizes for PALSS schools in the run up to SUS day include pedometers, a standing desk from sit-stand.com, a visit by Little Musketeers, a Synergy Dance session, Pleiades activity (Maths on the Move), Fitter Futures video and a visit from SCL.
To help pupils understand what the day is all about we're running a poster competition. Deadline for entries is 5 April. The winning design will be professionally printed and sent to every PALSS pledged school, while the winning pupil will receive a framed certificate along with a prize for their school.
PALSS pledged schools can find an example of a typical Active Day on page 7 of the resource booklet they received, as well as lots of ideas and case studies.
