Parent Information for the Specsavers Surrey Youth Games

What do you need to know about the Specsavers Surrey Youth Games?

Is there a handy document that contains the main info I need for the weekend?

Our Get Ready for the Games guide will have the most important details for all visitors to the Specsavers Surrey Youth Games 2020.  Once all the arrangements for this year are confirmed we'll pop a link to it here so please check back after Easter for an update.

What time does my child's sport take place? And what are the restrictions?

This summary shows activities by age/gender. All participants must be new to their sport and not club members - any other sport-specific restrictions can be found in the rules which you can access upon registration. Please be aware that if your child is selected to take part in the Games weekend, they can only take part in one event per day.

The Specsavers Surrey Youth Games event schedule will be uploaded as soon as have an early idea of numbers and can create a draft.

End times are always approximate as it depends on how many participants actually attend and cicrcumstances on the day.

How do we get to the Games? And where can we park?

The Surrey Sports Park is in Guildford and lies the other side of the A3 from the University of Surrey. Apart from blue badge holders (who must register at reception), there is NO PARKING at the Sports Park, enforced by licence plate recognition cameras.

Instead, our friends at Arriva buses are running a free Park and Ride service from the main university campus. Buses will run every 10 mins from 7.50am to 6pm.

Postcode for the University Park and Ride is GU2 7JP. The journey takes less than 5 minutes.

If you're travelling by train to Guildford,  you can take the bus (or walk) to the Surrey Sports Park.

How can I find out the results from the Games?

Full results will be available on our Rules and Results page AFTER the weekend, along with details of the borough winners of the prestigious Gerry Ceaser Fair Play Award.

You can also follow us on Twitter and Facebook @ActiveSurrey - we'll try and post results as we receive them but please bear with us as it can get a bit hectic on the day...  If you post about the event yourself, please support us by using #SpecsaversSYG

I've got a question / a last minute emergency

Take a look elsewhere on this site to see if you can find an answer, but if not, you can contact your local Team Organiser to ask them, or to report a child's absence on the day.

What else do I need to know about?

Please take a moment to look at the Photography Policy before you take any photos and the Codes of Conduct that parents/spectators & coaches are expected to follow.

Who funds the Games?

No other county still runs a free event like the Specsavers Surrey Youth Games. The Games are supported to varying degrees by Active Surrey, local Borough & District Councils, Surrey County Council, the title sponsor Specsavers, venue sponsor Surrey Sports Park, and transport provider Arriva.

We'd like to keep the Games free for future generations, but it gets harder every year. If your company would like to do its bit for your communityand would be interested in supporting an aspect of the Specsavers Surrey Youth Games, we'd love to hear from you - please contact us.

Where can I read the full rules about my child taking part, and how you'll use our data?

Our Privacy Notice and Ts&Cs (2020) is what you sign(ed) up to, to register your child.

We look forward to welcoming you and your family at the Specsavers Surrey Youth Games!
