Clubmark will ensure that clubs continue to develop and offer the best possible sporting opportunities, whilst allowing parents/carers to be confident that their children are attending a quality club. So, wherever you live in England, you will be able to assess how clubs compare, whatever their sport, by always looking for the Clubmark logo.

ACTIVE SURREY is working hard to ensure that junior sports clubs are safe, effective and child-friendly through Clubmark and Active Surrey Club Accreditation. CLUB DEVELOPMENT NEWSLETTER

The Active Surrey Club Development Newsletter is a bi-annual publication and will give you the latest updates and news relating to club development in Surrey. Past editions are available online. SCHOOL-CLUB LINKS

Formal links between schools and clubs are vital to give young people a positive experience of sport and allow them to be active for life. These links can increase a clubs membership and support with the clubs development for the future. DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION ACT (DDA)

Since December 1996 it has been unlawful for sports clubs to treat disabled people less favourably for a reason related to their disability;
Since October 1999 sports clubs have had to make "reasonable adjustments" for diabled people, such as providing extra help or making changes to the way they provide their services;
From 1st October 2004 sports clubs may have to make other "reasonable adjustments" in relation to the physical features of their premises to overcome physical barriers to access.

SPORTING CHAMPIONS

100 of the UK's best up & coming, established or retired sports people spend time each year visiting youth groups, sporting events, clubs and schools to talk about their experiences to help inspire more people to start, stay and succeed in sport in their community. There are about a dozen visits a year in Surrey - applications for visits are made through Active Surrey - see below (schools apply through the Youth Sports Trust).
