ATHLETICS FESTIVALS

Athletics Festivals are arranged throughout the year for athletes taking part in Panther Clubs or at Star:Trak events - click on the red for more info.

What's A Festival Like?

The first Active Surrey Athletics Festival held at Spelthorne leisure centre in Staines on July 20th 2003 was a great success with children from 4 boroughs taking part.

Over 25 children aged between 8-13 competed against each other to run, jump and throw higher, faster and longer to become the overall winners.

Congratulations to Reigate and Banstead girls and boys who came top in all events took the overall trophy, good sportsmanship was evident from all 4 teams:

Each child received a certificate to show they had competed in all events which included:

Take a look at the picture below to see some of the teams in action.

The next Active Surrey Festival for all those children who attend the autumn Panther Sessions will be in November, with events to compete in against other boroughs, (provisional date 29th November 2003). For those of you that attend the winter Panther sessions there will be a fun-run in Camberley, (provisional date 21st March 2004). A chance to get some fresh air before Youth Games trials and training, and to think about clubs you might like to join.
