Courses
The LTA Tennis Leaders Award encourages
young people to play an active role in their club or school tennis
programmes. 14-18 year olds can attend a local
course & benefit from
practical experience as well as the opportunity to develop their
skills.
The course is 10 hours in length and can
be delivered in a variety of ways, usually either 10 x 1 hours
sessions or 2 x 5 hour sessions. The candidate will get
10 hours of practical ecperience with helping with Mini Tennis
lessons or competition, continual assessment from the tutor and can
een register their volunteering hours online at tennisleaders.com
The skills the candidate will learn on
the course are:
- The role of a leader and characteristics of a good leader - relaibility, professional, appropriate appearance etc.
- Communication skills - verbal, non verbal, voice tone.
- Organisation skills such as setting up equipment and organising groups of players
- Setting up small activities such as warm ups and fundamental movement activities
- Organising players on court to practice drills and games
- Feeding players for practice on court hitting activity
- Assessing risks and ensuring safety
- Scoring tie break matches
- Organising simple team competitions

Tennis Assistant
For those interested in helping and
working with qualified coaches in pre-school, mini and beginner
tennis in clubs, schools and tennis centres. The 2-day course
teaches the skills of communication, co-ordination and competition
organisation. (Candidates are required to: be at least 17 years
old; have a current first aid
certificate; have an enhanced CRB
certificate).

nationwide Mini Tennis programme. Minimum age = 18.
Candidates must have attended a TA award course, have CRB

This course
aims to train enthusiastic and motivating coaches who can coach
beginners and improvers, children and adults, both individually and
in groups, as well as basic knowledge in running a small coaching
business. (Candidates must be at least 18 years old, have CRB
clearance (enhanced) and have a first aid
certificate).

This Level 2 course for coaches to
coach children and adults, individually and in groups, in the whole
spectrum of the club environment.
Candidates must be at least 18 years
old, have CRB clearance (enhanced) and hold an Approved Person's First Aid
Certificate.

This is a Level 3 coaching
qualification, designed to give coaches involved with beginners and
improvers in clubs a greater chance to develop their development
knowledge. The course should give skils and knowledge
required by Tennis Development Officers and Head
Coaches.
Prerequisite - All Candidates applying for the TDA, must first have obtained the DCA and CCA (Development), hold a Coach Licence and a
CRB Enhanced Disclosure Certificate.
At least 6 months coaching/development
experience is required since obtaining the CCA and if obtained prior to 1999, coaches need to
complete some home study.

This is a Level 3 Coaching
Qualification. The PCA is designed to give
coaches the relevant information and experience to train excellence
and performance players. It is a basic requirement for County
Perforamnce Officers and all National Training
Coaches.
Prerequisite - All candidates
applying for the PCA, must first have obtained the DCA and CCA* (passing the CCA at least 12 months previously), hold a Coach
Licence and a 'CRB Enhanced Disclosure'
Certificate.
* If the CCA has been obtained since January 2000 this award
should be the CCA

procedures, simple draws, team events & handling on court
situations. After attending this seminar you
have the opportunity to become a trainee member of ABTO and
officiate at fun tournaments.
