enjoyable Rugby Union tag sessions for Children. This course
is the rugby "bolt-on" to the Sports Leaders
UK Community Sports Leader Award (CSLA).

Tag Delivery Coaching
Award
This course is a 3
Hour course focussed at U7 upwards and is suitable for teachers,
coaches and leaders to introduce the non contact
game and will include the following:
- Introduce Tag rugby
- Deliver a Tag rugby session
- Plan a progressive series of Tag rugby
sessions
- Describe RFU Playing & Coaching
pathways and the role of Tag within it
- Use basic generic coaching
skills
- Demonstrate a basic understanding of the
laws of Tag rugby
- Referee a small sided Tag rugby
game

This 3 hour session focuses on U9 and
upwards and looks at the following aspects:
- Awareness of contact situations, contact
warm-up's and the introduction of
contact.
- Contact with an opponent on
feet
- Developing contact with an opponent on
feet
- Contact with an opponent on the
ground
- Coach the tackle safely
- To raise awareness of safety issues
relevant to coaching a rugby team

- Handling receipt and
passing (miss pass)
- Running lines
- Switch / Scissors / loop

Level 1 Certificate in
Coaching Award
This brand-new course (replacing
the Mini-Midi contact course)is a vocationally related qualification that
provides you with an opportunity to study and be assessed for both
practical and theoretical aspects of coaching rugby union in a
safe, ethical and effective way. The Certificate
qualifies you to assist in coaching the skills and techniques of
rugby union (including contact) to adults and
children. Candidates must be 16 years of age or
over before registering and prior to certification, candidates must
have evidence of having attended child protection training (click
here
for courses).
Level 2 Coaching
Award
This is a 21-hour course with some
distance learning and is designed to help Level 1 coaches of proven
ability to increase their knowledge and expertise in the adult game
of Rugby Union. At the end of this course successful coaches will
be able to apply a thorough understanding of all aspects of
planning, coaching style, skill development, safety in contact and
technical improvement to their coaching of adult
players.
