UKCC Level 1 Coaching
Qualification
The role of the Level 1 coach is to:
'assist more qualified coaches, delivering aspects of coaching
sessions, normally under direct supervision.'
Eligibility: No minimum
playing or coaching experience required; Minimum age of
participants is 16 years old.
By successfully completing a Level 1
coaching qualification, as part of a UKCC endorsed coach education
programme, coaches will be able to:
Prepare for the delivery of coaching
activities
To do this, coaches must be able
to:
- prepare for activities, taking
into account participants' needs and motives
- establish a
safe working environment
Deliver prepared activities of
the coaching sessions
To do this, coaches must be able
to:
- establish working relationships
with participants and others
- prepare the participants for the
coaching activities
- support participants
behaviour
- deliver prepared
activities
- conclude the activities
Evaluate the effectiveness of
coaching activities
To do this, coaches must be able
to:
- review the activities
- contribute to the evaluation of

the launch of the Netballs new Level 2 Coaching
Qualifications. These new qualifications will set the
standards to help England Netball ensure they are
delivering the best available, player centred coaching
possible.
Eligibility:
- Candidates are required to be at least 18
years of age
- been an active coach in Netball for a
minimum of 2 years
- have attended (prior to completion of the
course) a recognised Child protection/Duty of care training
course
- have attended (prior to completion of the
course) a recognised Emergency 1st Aid
course
By
successfully completing a Level 2 coaching qualification, as part

England Netball is
delighted to announce the launch of their new UKCC Level 2 Upgrade
Coaching Qualification. This course is designed for Level 2
Coaches who hold the old Level 2 Coaching award and who wish to
upgrade their award to a UKCC qualification.
In recognition of
the previous Netball coaching award and competence, England Netball
has mapped the new UKCC qualification against the previous England
Netball Level 2 Coach award. This has resulted in a shorter course
to attend but the assessment criteria and requirements are exactly
the same as the full UKCC Level 2.

Candidates are required to

- attended an old England Netball Level 2 Coach award
in full and have been deemed competent. (We will require
proof of your certificate and/or coach
card)
- been an active coach in Netball for the past 2
years
- attended (prior to completion of the course) a

The role of the Level 3 is to plan,
implement, analyse and revise annual coaching
programmes.
Eligibility: The
programme does require a level of experience and this is deemed as
follows:
- Be coaching and training the same team in
a club/team environment with regular training sessions and have
competitive matches on a regular basis
- Experience of coaching the same group of
players for a full Netball season within the past 3
years
- Experience of coaching a variety of
players at more than one element of the performance pathway and at
a variety of age groups
- Desirable to be IT literate and have
access to the web

Umpire
Beginner Course
This course is
suitable for beginner umpires with little or no umpiring experience
and is designed to give you enough information to manage a game of
netball & to keep it safe, fair & enjoyable. It is the
first course on the umpire ladder & will provide you with the
basics on which to progress. The course is a mixture of
theory and practical, with emphasis on learning the rules and
applying them into practical umpiring skills. Course members
must be fit enough to participate in full during the practical
sessions. There is a short written test on your
knowledge of the rules & an opportunity to show your practical
umpiring skills.

C Award Umpire Course
This course aims to prepare umpires with
knowledge of rules and umpires competencies to umpire at average
adult club level. In normal circumstances you should
not apply for this course unless you have already attended a
beginners course and have some umpiring experience. If in doubt,
please call the course contact. The course does include some
theory although it is predominantly a practical day and course
members must be fit enough to participate in
full. An umpire's assessment sheet will be
handed out at the end of this course.
