        FAQs

"The GPCP workshop is very familier to those involved in sport - why change it?"

It is important that education & related resources for sport keep up to date with developments in the wider world.  With the Change for Children strategy (2004) the government has introduced a shift in emphasis from a narrow focus on "child protection" to the principles of "safeguarding" all children.

"Does "safeguarding & protecting children" resource replace the old GPCP resource?"

Yes, the structure & content of GPCP have been reviewed in line with changes & developments in governments guidance & legislation.  The new resource remains easy to read with activities reinforcing key points, summary sections throughout & advice for further reading and support.

"What will be the implications for Clubmark, sport GBs / local authority accreditation / recognition?"

The new workshop will still meet the learning outcomes for basic safeguarding & protecting children awareness training.  Therefore is meets the requirements of Clubmark, MOS and is recognised by the CPSU.
