COACHING ESSENTIALS WORKSHOPS

 

Introduction to the FUNdamentals of Movement 

This practical workshop explores the concepts of Agility, Balance and Co-ordination and speed (the ABC's). It compliments other coach education resources which may focus on the movement skills of running, hopping, skipping etc. This workshop assists coaches to observe, analyse and coach good movement patterns within their sessions whether multi skill or sport specific.
By the end of this workshop session coaches will be familiar with the fundamental concepts related to agility, balance, co-ordination and speed:
A prerequisite for this workshop is that coaches should have an understanding of the Long-term Athlete Development Model and associated player pathway within their sport.

This workshop builds on the knowledge previously gained from the An Introduction to the FUNdamentals of Movement and looks at the individual component of Agility in more detail. It also builds on the development and enhancement of observational techniques and skills.
By the end of the workshop coaches will be able to:
  • Introduce and identify the specific principles of Agility in more detail within various stages of activity
  • Identify the components of Agility, Balance and Coordination in complex activities
  • Learn, develop and apply how to improve participants movement skills with sport specific techniques

FUNdamentals of Balance
This workshop builds on the knowledge previously gained from the An Introduction to the FUNdamentals of Movement and looks at the individual component of Balance in more detail. It also builds on the development and enhancement of observational techniques and skills.
By the end of the workshop coaches will be able to:

FUNdamentals of Coordination
This workshop builds on the knowledge previously gained from the An Introduction to the FUNdamentals of Movement and looks at the individual component of Coordination in more detail. It also builds on the development and enhancement of observational techniques and skills

How to Coach Disabled People in Sport 
This workshop tackles questions that are frequently asked by sports teachers, coaches and participants about how to work with disabled sports people. This includes a whole spectrum of new ideas for inclusion, the workshop will introduce and offer guidance to any coach involved with disabled people in sport, the emphasis being to introduce coaches to the Inclusion Spectrum and effective practice.
At the end of the workshop, coaches will be able to:
  • determine how to include disabled people in sport
  • select appropriate coaching activities
  • create effective coaching environments

Introduction to Long Term Athlete Developement   
sports coach UK is working closely with Sport England, the Youth Sport Trust and other UK partners to develop this workshop and associated resources to make sure they support the implementation of Long-term Athlete Development (LTAD)/ Player Centred processes across the UK. This workshop is seen as vital in ensuring a common understanding of LTAD and its consistent application in the coaching world. It will also greatly assist towards the use of common terminology amongst all the various user groups. This workshop is aimed at coaches to enable them to understand the key concepts of LTAD and what it means to them and their practice.
By the end of this workshop coaches will be able to:
  • identify and recognise the reasons for adopting LTAD
  • identify and recognise the concepts and key principles of LTAD
  • recognise and respond to the implication for coaches and coaching
  • identify appropriate action to integrate LTAD into their coaching

This practical advanced session will look at the principles of Core Stability in more detail - a qualified Personal Trainer and Core Stability / SAQ trainer will be delivering this session.

Speed, Agility, Quickness (SAQ) ~

This workshop looks at the movement skills of speed, agility and quickness and how improving these area's within your athletes can improve their performances.

The sports coach UK workshop Goal Setting and Planning and resource A Guide to Planning Coaching Programmes have both recently been through a major review to reflect best practice in this area, linked to the latest thinking in Long-term Athlete Development, in particular periodisation of athletes and teams. the new workshop and resource is now called Planning and Periodisation.

First Aid For Sport

These HSE-approved, Appointed Persons courses are designed especially for sports coaches, leaders and officials.  Learn CPR and how to deal with Strains and Sprains, Breaks and Burns, Recovery and Recuperation.

SPORTS PSYCHOLOGY COURSES

 

This 3 hour session will give you a real insight into the different ways people perform, helping you to understand how to make training more effective, and showing you practical techniques that are proven to enhance sporting performance.
 
Paul Robinson, a sports psychologist from the University of Chichester will be delivering this session and topics will cover: Initial assessment, Concentration, Focusing and re-focusing, Confidence, Performance Profiling, Goal setting, Imagery, Anxiety reduction/inducement

Most workshop attendees receive a fantastic resource pack and a certificate, those highlighted with a ~ are local, besoke training workshop and delegates will receive certificates of attendance and workshop resources.
