CLUBMARK

Do you believe that your club should:

If so, then Clubmark, the new national club development and accreditation scheme from Sport England, is what YOUR club needs.

Club Development

Clubmark is designed to help sports clubs develop through proper planning and by making sure that proper procedures are in place to cover all eventualities.

Quality Kitemark

The criteria to gain a Clubmark Award is incorporated into all of the different sports' own accreditation schemes.  When clubs achieve their own sports' Award, they will also receive Clubmark which  allows parents to easily recognise quality clubs, whatever the sport, because of the one cross-sport quality kitemark (much like in other professions!).

How Does a Club Get Involved?

Local Junior Sports Clubs, are being invited by their National Sports Governing Bodies (NGB's) to work through their own sports' Club Accreditation Scheme - a set of criteria which prove their attributes, and also to help them develop both their infrastructure and their volunteersWhen they attain a certain level, they are eligible for the cross-sport Clubmark Award.

What Categories are Clubs Assessed On?

- Duty of care and safety

- Quality of coaching and competition

- Fairness of opportunity (equity)

- Club management

What Support is Available for Clubs to Achieve Clubmark?

Working closely with their local authority and sports-specific sports development officers, clubs receive guidance, support and resource packs to help them improve and satisfy the criteria.  Templates are available to download (click here for templates) from this website.

Clubs are promoted on this site (click here for clubs list) and to local schools, coaching sessions and in the media.

Not only can clubs use Clubmark to develop, but parents, players, local authorities and schools can also assess how good a club is by looking for the accreditation logo and using it as a quality mark.  Some immediate benefits that Clubmark gives clubs (source: KKP) are:

Junior club membership increased in all cases
Increased age group sections in some instances
Increase in number of active coaches
Increase in qualifications more coaches at lower level

Clubs can register with their own sports' development officer and progress through their own NGB Accreditation Scheme, or alternatively can work with their local authority sports development officer through the Active Surrey Club Accreditation to receive extra guidance and support from local staff to help them reach Clubmark standard as quickly and effectively as possible.

If you would like further information about Club Development & Accreditation, please contact your local authority sports development officer on the Contacts page or:
