PROFESSIONAL ADVICE

SPORTS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER SUPPORT

Sports & Leisure Development Officers can offer great advice and support to performers, parents coaches and clubs.

Every Local Authority Borough or District Council will have either a Sports or Leisure Development Officer, whose job it is to help their community have greater access to sport and leisure.  They develop sporting opportunities in their area and provide facilties and funding for sport.

In addition, each Sports Governing Body will have a similar member of staff on hand to provide advice to individuals, clubs and county associations on sports-specific matters.  They are generally based county-wide or regionally (ie covering several counties).

Furthermore, Surrey is represented county-wide by the Active Surrey Sports Partnership which comprises of about 20 core staff promoting a co-ordinated aproach to sports development in Surrey.  The Partnership consists of local authorities, sports facilities and education providers, as well as county governing bodies of sport and national agencies such as Sport England, sports coach UK, sports leaders UK and English Federation of Disability Sport to further the development of sport in Surrey.

Follow the links above to find out the contact details of your Local Authority or Sports-Specific Development Officer and see how they can help you.
