YEAR
This award is for a coach,
official, administrator or general helper who
has:
- Demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment to a sport or club;
- made a tremendous impact on a club or organisation through volunteering;
- shown a commitment to personal development, team working and supporting the development of other volunteers.

Martin Marshall -
WINNER
Woking
Blackhawks Basketball Club
Martin shows complete commitment
to basketball and his club, Woking Blackhawks.
Martins efforts have underpinned the success of the club, which has
flourished and doubled its membership in the
process. Since taking on the role of Club
Secretary over 3 years ago, Martins administration skills have
ensured that all 200 members in 11 teams are properly registered
and eligible to play, a time consuming task. He
has also developed his own software to record club
statistics. In addition to this, Martin has
taken on the role of Team Manager for the clubs first team and has
extended his commitment by becoming Fixture Secretary for the
Wessex League. Martin also promotes the club in
the community, producing leaflets and flyers and organising stands
and displays at local youth events. Martin is
respected throughout the club for his hard work and the positive
and professional manner in which he carries it
out.
Chris
Matthews
Ebbisham Sports
Club
Chris started helping out at
Ebbisham Sports Club when he studied for his Community Sports
Leader Award. He liked it so much he stayed on
and is now a qualified Level 1 assistant coach and he mentors other
volunteers and young people at the club. Chris
has been volunteering for the Surrey Youth Games for many years and
this year showed great commitment and enthusiasm by stepping in to
support the squash team as Epsom & Ewell Team
Manager. He helped the club to cover all
training sessions, completed all the necessary administration work
and volunteered his time during the weekend of the
Games. Chris has shown great commitment to his
continual professional
development.
Meriel
Bottle
Haslemere Swimming
Club
Meriel joined Haslemere Swimming
Club in 1996 and began coaching the novice squads on Friday
evenings. She has remained dedicated to this
role for the past 13 years. Meriel also took on
the role of club administrator in 2001 and can still be found daily
in the club office. During this time she has set
up all of the clubs open meets including the club
championships. Meriel has also demonstrated a
commitment to personal development and is a fully qualified judge
and timekeeper.
