WHERE TO FIND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

If you are interested in volunteering there are a number of ways you can find the right opportunity for you. These include:

Surrey vinvolved is part of a national youth volunteering initiative working to increase the quantity, quality and diversity of volunteering opportunities for young people. If you are aged 16 - 25 years and would like to volunteer in sport, or any other area, visit the Surrey vinvolved website to search for the right opportunity for you.

List of Surrey Sports Clubs
If you have a clear idea about which sport you would like to be involved in, you can use our List of Surrey Sports Clubs to find a club near you. All you need to do is:
  • Filter the information on the list, using the boxes along the top fields of the spreadsheet - by local area, sport etc
  • Contact the clubs you're interested in helping!
The List of Surrey Sports Clubs can be found by clicking here.

PLEASE NOTE!

When deciding on a sports club, we recommend that you choose an accredited club (these are highlighted in the List of Surrey Sports Clubs). However, if you are considering a club that is not accredited you may want ask some of the following questions:
  • Are the clubs coaches qualified?
  • Is the club affiliated to its National Governing Body?
  • Does the club have insurance?
  • Does the club have a Child Protection Policy?
  • As a parent or carer are you able to stay and watch the junior sessions?
  • Does the club cater for a range of skills and abilities?
  • Does the club have adequate First Aid and Health and Safety procedures?
For more details of club accreditation please click here.

do-it
Whether you're new to volunteering or a volunteering veteran, this website gives you an excellent start if you're not sure where to search for opportunities!  Do-it is a national database of volunteering opportunities in the UK.  It allows people to search the database for opportunities whilst local (and some national) clubs can advertise volunteer vacancies, with the majority of opportunities directed through local Volunteer Centres. Click here to go to the do-it website.

Volunteer Centres
There are 15 Volunteer Centres across Surrey, with each advertising volunteering opportunities in sport and other activities! So if you don't know where to start in getting involved with local volunteering, a Volunteer Centre may be just the place to go!

A Volunteer Centre's primary function is the matching of both individuals and groups interested in volunteering with appropriate opportunities in the local community. Volunteer Centres upload opportunities onto the do-it.org website - so you can look on it to see opportunities in sport locally and nationally!

You can either look on the do-it.org website, or contact your local Volunteer Centre directly for advice - please see below for addresses and telephone numbers.
