GIFTED & TALENTED
This programme aims to improve the range
and quality of teaching, coaching and learning for talented sports
people.
The Youth Sports Trust has a
dedicated site called talent ladder.org
to establish pathways which co-ordinate
the development of, and the demands on talented (and potentially
talented) young sports people so as to enable them to maximise
their academic and sporting potential.
The Talent Ladder website is a key part
of the programme aiming to provide a communication tool and central
resource area to all individuals involved with young people who are
G&T in PE and sport, be they the young people themselves, their
teachers, parents/guardians, or their coaches
Within the G&T in PE and sport
programme there are a number of different sub-projects (or
sub-strands) which aim, in different ways, to provide support to
young people who are considered or identified as G&T in PE and
sport
The support for
G&T section contains information, guidance
and resources devoted to the talent support programme, Junior
Athlete Education (JAE). Visit this section to find out about the
programme, download (password protected) resources on completion of
JAE training, and find more guidance on supporting talented young
sports people in school sport partnerships
This section also covers the important
area of talent development in curriculum PE and its associated
research. Visit this section for an overview of research-based
examples of current talent development practices in
PE.
The Multi-skill Clubs and
performance camps sections
provide information and reports on the more practical side of
G&T in the national framework for PE and sport in
PESSCL.
Research in G&T is a section that
aims to provide information about talent identification and
development research findings that are being generated from the
academic community.
In the disability G&T section,
information is available regarding current project work being
carried out to support school sport partnerships to identify and
provide for G&T pupils with a disability.
Sports Colleges across the county
are also rolling out the "Junior Athlete Education" programme which
supports gifted and talented pupils.
Andy Daly, Director of Sport at the Royal
Alexandra and Albert School is driving forwards the area of gifted
and talented in the county. His presentations
can be found on the e-learning platform.
