- Increase the number of young people taking part in inter school competitions
- Audit and review current inter school competitions (utilising existing School Sport Partnership audit procedures and liasing directly with the National Governing Bodies of Sport and School Sport Associations), make adjustments and develop new opportunities where appropriate
- Improve the quality of inter school competitions and clearly define the player pathways for each sport
WHAT ARE OUR TARGETS?
A 5% increase in the number of new young people taking part in inter school competition.
= 5% increase per School Sports Partnership (SSP)
= 6200 new young people in Surrey
= approximately 1000 per SSP
We need to ensure that 39% (48,138) of young people who competed last year, continue to experience inter school competition as well.
All of the targets centred on competition, interlink with many other PESSYP strands such as school-club links, leadership and volunteering and Continued Professional Development.
- To provide competitive opportunities for all children and young people, by assessing and meeting the needs of different age groups, ability levels and sporting preferences among young people
- Provide teachers with an informed picture of competitive school sports activity, in the form of an event calendar. This calendar will highlight every competitive event available, throughout the year, to your school and students.
- Provide staff and young people with the sport specific knowledge required to run safe and effective competitive events.
- Signpost pathways that are available to all children and young people, outside of the school environment
- Identify areas of duplication in the current provision of school sports competitions, therefore reducing over competing of students.

- National Governing Bodies of Sport

- Active Surrey Sports Partnership
