Hockey Coach - Job Description and Person Specification

Starting salary: £5,850

Hours: 10 hours per week, term time only (39 weeks per year)

Duration of employment: Fixed term appointment until 31^st March 2011

Responsible to: Partnership Development Manager

Main Purpose:

You will provide the schools within the Mid Surrey School Sport Partnership with high quality hockey coaching. You will work with local schools and the local community in a wide and varied way with the aim of increasing participation levels of young people, as well as offering some specific targeted opportunities.

The initial target group will be year 5 and 6 pupils from across the partnership area, although this may change as the post develops over time.

The Hawthorns School
The Hawthorns School are looking for an experienced coach to work 3 afternoons per week at the school.
Monday 3.00-5.00pm/Wed 1.30-4.30pm/Fri 3.00-4.00pm for their lessons plus extra afternoon sessions on Tue & Thurs if available from 2.00-4.00pm. Further details below.

ROYAL RUSSELL SCHOOL

Squad Coach for Wimbledon Ladies

Wimbledon Ladies run 5 ladies teams from South Division One to Surrey Div 3 plus a large Junior section. The club has recently achieved Club First accreditation. The Wimbledon Club provides excellent facilities with the Mens hockey section at Church Rd SW19. www.wimbledonhockey.com

We are seeking a coach able to lead one of our top ladies teams, dependent upon their qualifications and experience. They must be in a good position to continue to develop the experienced and less experienced players, and support the development of players through the top tiers of the club. Ultimately, it is anticipated that the coach will have a key role in supporting the club in their drive to return to National League competition. Squad Training is on Tuesday nights. The coach should be available to attend Saturday matches.

The Ideal coach should have:

EH qualifications and experience of coaching senior women.
Proven ability to communicate effectively with players, captains and other coaches.
An interest in developing with the club in this role.

THAMES VALLEY HOCKEY CLUB

Thames Valley Hockey club are looking for a coach to plan and facilitate training on Thursday evenings for 2 hours a week (1 hour for girls and 1 hour for guys). The club is a friendly club and has 2 mens and womens teams ranging for novice to intermediate standard.

Positions: Leading Coach, approximately 4 hours per week

Role:

To lead coaching across the club; developing and leading drills and sessions within both sections of the club.
To coordinate coaching by organising our qualified and volunteer club coaches (7 current club coaches at Level 1 or approaching Level 2)
To develop in-house coaching by mentoring and advising volunteers
To advise on and participate in other aspects of specialist coaching (e.g. younger colts, goalkeeping, set pieces)
Our expanding club would like to appoint a Lead Coach for the 2008 / 2009 season to lead the coaching and development programme for the whole club. We need to build on the progress of recent seasons with a coaching strategy for the future. The coach would be expected to attend all adult training sessions and several colts training sessions throughout the season.

The coach will be expected to be qualified to at least Level 2, hold their own

insurance, be CRB checked and have basic first aid knowledge.

Adults currently train on Wednesday evenings (6pm 9.30pm) and Colts on

Sunday Mornings. The club runs 5 Mens and 3 Ladies competitive teams and

has a thriving Colts Section

Good hourly rate depending upon qualification and experience. Possibility of

extending contract duration to subsequent seasons.

EPSOM HOCKEY CLUB

After two successful seasons in which Epsom have won the Surrey/Hampshire League and contended for promotion in South Div 2 our current player/coach has decided to step down to concentrate on playing. SURREY OLD BOYS HOCKEY CLUB

Surrey Old Boys HC are looking for a qualified and/or experienced coach who will support both of their 1st and 2nd XI development.

The 1st XI have competed in Surrey Div 1 this year (having won promotion in their first season).

The teams aim is to finish in the top 3 of the league they will be competing in.

Surrey Old Boys would like a coach who could work with them on the following;

- Basics - Work with the captains to develop drills that postively impact weekly league performance

- Work with the captains to define team strategy and watch some if not all of their matches (flexible on this)

- Provide assessments during and after the game where possible.

EPSOM HOCKEY CLUB

Epsom Hockey Club is looking for a level 2 qualified coach to help run their junior coaching sessions.

Coaching sessions run on Sunday mornings from 9.15am-12 at Blenheim High School, Longmead Road, Epsom.

This coaching position will primarily oversee the running of the training sessions (U9-U11 from 9.15-10.30 and U12-U16 from 10.30-12), but also may be required to attend games.

All equipment is provided.

Ideally Epsom Hockey Club would like to see someone in place ASAP to see out the remainder of the season but they would welcome any longer term interest.
