TEACHER EDUCATION

 

 

Based on the Elevating Athletics teaching resource, the course demonstrates progression across age groups in generic and athetic specific running, jumping and throwing activities.

 

The cost of a six hour practical and theory course is £450 pound for 24 people - this covers all administration, tutor fees and travel expenses.  The cost of the venue is the responsibility of the host.  The venue will need to provide both classroom and practical facilities.  Equipment for use during the course will be supplied by the tutor.

 

 

CERTIFICATE IN TEACHING PRIMARY ATHLETICS

For qualified and trainee teachers and those supporting the managment and delivery of high quality sport and physical education in primary schools.

 

The course highlights safe and inclusive teaching methodology, which initially focusses on developing competency in the fundamental movement skills that underpin athleticism, before examing how to spply these skills to running, jumping and throwing events.

 

The additional programmes and resources available to support delivery, measurement and assessment are signposted, and the inclusion of all children and the first steps into competition are highlighted.

CERTIFICATE IN TEACHING SECONDARY ATHLETICS

For qualified and trainee teachers and those supporting the management and delivery of high quality sport and physical education in secondary schools.

 

The course builds apon what is presented in the primary resource.  It focusses upon what is presented in the ongoing acquisition and further development of the fundamental movement skills that underpin athleticism.  It highlights progressions for students of all abilities, presenting clear technical models and safe and inclusive teaching methodologies.

 

The additional programmes and resources available to support delivery, measurement and assessment, citizenship and problem solving are signposted, and the inclusion of all pupils and ongoing steps into competition are highlighted.

COURSES TO MEET YOUR SPECIFICATION

For schools, groups of schools, other providers of athletics for young people.

 

The number of short courses that support grass roots athletics development are available and can be tailored to meet the specific needs of a school, group of schools or other relevant groups.

 

Costs will vary between £200-£450 depending upon your course requirment.

ELEVATING ATHLETICS PACKS

The packs provide a framework for teaching athletics in schools for students aged 5-12 and 11-16.  The resources are designed to place running, jumping and throwing at the heart of school physical education and to support teachers in delivering athletic activity in an inclusive, exciting and engaging manor. 

 

Elevating Athletics is written by physical education experts with extensive experience of teaching and coaching athletics at school, club and international level.

 

Elevating Athletics is wtitten to conform to curriculum requirements in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
