Coaching Courses
The coach education
structure for Netball has recently undergone some significant
changes as Netball moves to the new United Kingdom Coaching
Certificate (UKCC) qualifications.
The previous England
Netball Level 1, 2 and 3 awards are therefore no longer being
delivered. However, if you have existing Netball Coaching
qualifications, they do still stand. If you wish to continue to
develop in your coaching, you will join the UKCC Level most suited
to your qualifications and experience.
For information on UKCC
courses including dates, venues and course content please visit the
UKCC pages of the England Netball website (www.englandnetball.co.uk).
Further generic coaching
courses and workshops are also run as part of Active Surrey's Coach
Education Programme. Please click
here for information on qualifications and
training opportunities through Active Surrey.
If you are interested in coaching netball within Surrey and SW London or would like to develop your coaching skills please contact Laura Wilson on 01483 518966.
Tutor Training
A new wave of dates for Tutor &
Assessor training for the UKCC Netball Coaching courses have been
scheduled across the country. The dates and venues are on the
England Netball website: www.englandnetball.co.uk
under Get Involved. One tutor training course is due to be held in
Surrey in September 2008.
There is currently a real shortage of
UKCC Netball tutors and this is therefore limiting our capacity to
run coaching courses in the Region. If you are interested
in becoming an accredited UKCC tutor / assessor we would be keen to
support your development and funding maybe available for you to
attend the training courses. Please
contact
Laura on 01483 518966 if you are interested or if you
would like further information.
Officiating Courses
Umpiring courses within Surrey are run by the Surrey County Netball Association.
There are 6
umpiring levels / awards which are operated nationally by the
England Netball:
- AENA Beginner Award
- FENA C Award
- FENA B Award
- FENA A Award
- AENA Country Accreditation
- IFNA International Award
The ladder of
progress is as follows:
1) Get umpiring practice. Practice scoring,
timekeeping and umpiring at your school, local club or
league.
2) Attend a Beginner Umpiring Course. This
course is designed to introduce the basics of umpiring a netball
match for junior or inexperienced players in a club or school
environment. No experience is necessary. This is a tutor lead
course, not including the test. After the course gain umpiring
experience on school or friendly matches.
3) Attend a C Award Course. This course
prepares umpires with knowledge of rules and umpire competencies,
to enable them to umpire at average adult club level. Participants
must have experience of umpiring at Beginner Umpire Level. This is
a tutor lead course, not including the test.
4) Take the FENA C Award. This
includes a test paper consisting of 20 questions where a minimum of
17 questions must be answered correctly. Yes or No answers are
required from written questions. The practical test includes a
minimum of a 30 minute assessment where umpires are expected to
show their ability in application of the rules and control of the
game by:
- Penalising
correctly obvious infringements of the rules
- Correct use of voice, whistle and terminology
- Positioning and movement
