Powerade Surrey Sports Awards 2008

With Spain winning Euro 2008 and Rafa Nadal (from Spain) winning Wimbledon, Surrey is now focusing on the 2nd Surrey Sports Awards, due to be held on Sunday 12 October 2008.  The awards help raise the profile of English talent we have on our own doorsteps!

After a successful inaugral event in 2007, this year's event promises to be just as exciting. With the introduction of new awards, it is hoped that we can celebrate the thousands of coaches, clubs, volunteers, athletes and schools that make up Surrey's sporting environment.

This year there are 13 awards which includes, for the first time, the Community Sports Coach Award.  Nomination forms have been sent to local authority sports development teams, sports councils, county associations and national governing bodies of sport asking them to put forward their nominations by 15 August 2008.

The 13 awards are:

  • Sports Personality of the Year
  • Young Sports Personality of the Year
  • Sports Club of the Year
  • Coach of the Year
  • Young Coach of the Year
  • Community Sports Coach of the Year
  • Sports Team of the Year
  • Young Sports Team of the Year
  • Disability Sports Award
  • Outstanding Service to Sport
  • Volunteer of the Year
  • Young Volunteer of the Year
  • Impact and Innovation in Schools Award

The event will be hosted at the prestigious Windsor Building, Royal Holloway University of London.
