Surrey County Athletics Squad

The Surrey County Athletics Squad is gearing itself up for autumn and winter training, which will start with the first Squad Day on Sunday 7th October 2007 at Sutton Arena from 9.45am 3.15pm

The other squad dates are:

         Sunday 25th November 2007

Sunday 13th January 2008 (not endurance athletes)
         Sunday 10th February 2008
         Sunday 6th April 2008

The Surrey Squad in 2007 / 2008 will follow on from the successful squad days from last winter.  The aim of these squad days is to provide athletes, who have achieved the selection standard, and their coaches, the opportunity to attend winter training days which look at all aspects of athletics training.  Athletes will receive quality coaching and will attend workshops on the Five Ring Model.  This information has now been released and circulated by UKA and information / handouts will be available on the day for all coaches.

Additionally, the Squad Days will provide all coaches in Surrey with the chance to learn from experienced coaches and their athletes.

The South East Region intends to provide athletes and coaches a pathway from County, through Regional to National level.

The Lead Coach (Geoff Platt) for the Squad will work with the County Athletics Development Officer Zoe Mckinnon to organise the five training days which will be run by experienced Surrey coaches.

The Squad Days are open to all coaches who would like to attend, observe and learn from the training taking place.
