School Club Link - Reporting, Targets and
Summary
The Collection of
Information
Each year School Sports
Partnerships and National Governing Bodies have to report on the
number of high quality school club links within Surrey and across
the country.
PESSCL Survey Question
7 asks For which sports do you have Club Links? and Question 8 asks
What is the total number of pupils in each year group who have
participated in one or more community sports, dance or multi-skill
clubs with links to the school during this academic
year?
It is therefore
essential that schools and clubs keep accurate registers of
participants in order to accurately report the links
Future
aspirations
As a county we know
there is some excellent work going on with regard to school club
links. Volunteers and professionals are dedicating hours of their
time to ensure young people are benefiting from sport.
It is acknowledged that
reviewing and formalising links takes time. But, it is vitally
important to the future of sport in this county that links move
away from being a lottery of participation to a right of every
young person should they choose it.
The aspiration for
Surrey are that:
School Sports
Partnerships work towards formalising the links which already exist
with Clubmark or Active Surrey Club Accreditation (Silver or Gold).
So that by July 2008 signed agreements are made with these
clubs.
School Sports
Partnership respond to the needs of young people by identifying
local clubs with which to form links, and encourages these clubs to
become accredited (minimum checklist complete prior to link taking
place) See partnership development plans.
Sports Development
Officers, National Governing Bodies of Sports and Active Surrey
work with clubs interested in working with schools to become ASCA
Silver or Clubmark clubs and to create at least one new link per
SSP.
When links are reported
there is evidence both in the form of an agreement, and registers,
which detail the link that is in place.
By 2008 the number of
young people attending one or more community sport or dance clubs
rises from 29% to 35% and that the clubs are of High
Quality.
There is an increase in
the number of children and young people acting as sports leaders in
community sports clubs.
There is an increase in
the number of children and young people moving into sports clubs
from under represented groups.
Targets
In response to national
targets, the targets for Surrey School Club Links are to
increase:
- The number of accredited clubs
- The number of links with School Sports Partnerships
- The number of young people who are members of accredited club
