The first ever equality Standard for sport was launched in November 2004. It is a framework for assisting sports organisations to widen access and reduce inequalities in sport and physical activity from under representative individuals, groups and communities. 

Achieving the standard will ensure that Active Surrey is successfully engaging, promoting and developing people form all sectors of society as athletes, coaches, officials, administrators and leaders in sport. 

As part of Active Surrey's continued dedication towards equality the Preliminary level of this standard was achieved in 2008.
