SURREY SPORTS LEADERS
INTO COACHING
(SLIC)
DO YOU WANT TO BECOME A SPORTS
COACH?
If you are aged between 16 - 21,
currently volunteering in a local sports club or you are
coaching already for a club, youth centre, football in the
community or school club setting in Surrey then the Sports
Leaders Into Coaching scheme can help
you!
The SLIC programme can help you onto the
coaching ladder and focus on what you want to achieve through
coaching 1 or more sports, whether it is to build experience for a
future career as a coach or for your CV in general!
Young leaders/coaches will be identified
and asked to be a part of the programme if they live in Surrey or
go to a club in Surrey and are already doing the
following:
- Assistant coaching atleast once a week in a club setting
- Volunteered more than 25 hours through any volunteering programme (Duke of Edinburgh Award, Surrey Young Coaches & Officials, Step into Sport, Level 2 in Community Sports Leaders, Millenium Volunteers).
- Volunteered at the Surrey Youth Games.
- Any young leader who has a proven commitment to volunteering at a local club.
A support package of mentoring and
coaching qualifications is available to successful
applicants: Access to a training
and mentoring programme through your club
- Free training courses, including
- Safeguarding & Protecting Children
- Equity in Your Coaching
- Introduction to Long Term Athlete Development
- How to Coach Disabled People in Sport
- Subsidised access to a sport-specific Level 1 or Level 2 course
