BETTER SPORT IN EDUCATION
The aim of this framework is to
provide structure to the development of better Sport in Education
within the county of Surrey. The Framework will help support the
delivery of the PE, School Sport, Club Links (PESSCL) strategy,
National and regional initiatives such as Healthy Schools and
provide direction for the delivery of key targets in Sport
England's Regional Plan for Sport, Mission: Possible.
The framework recognises the current
good practice that is being delivered by existing partners in the
county but challenges them to define their roles and what they have
to do to achieve Surrey's vision. These partners within the Active
Surrey Sports Partnership include sports coach UK, Sport England,
Youth Sport Trust, Local Authorities, National Governing Bodies of
Sport (NGBs), Surrey LEA (FourS), School Sports Partnerships/Sports
Colleges, Schools, FE/HEi as well as Partnership core
staff.
This Framework outlines where Surrey
aims to be with regards to Sport in Education by 2009. It gives
examples of how this can be achieved through joint partnership
working and shared planning which will be a key part of delivering
Surrey's strategic objectives. It has the
following underlying aspirations:
- To promote high quality PE and School Sport across Surrey, in line with the National PSA target
- To increase the number of people receiving training inc coaches, leaders and teachers
- To increase the number of sports participants from under-represented groups
- To increase the number of young people volunteering in sport
- To increase the number of people participating in sports and physical activity by 1% year on year.
This framework recognises the need for all partners to play their part in its delivery. It acknowledges the need for improved strategic co-ordination of school sport, education and training across the county and acknowledges the need for more effective communication and commitment to partnership working and cooperation, by all those involved.
