ACTIVEMARK, SPORTSMARK &
SCHOOL SPORTS PARTNERSHIP MARK
For the second year, the annual awards
will reward delivery of the national PE, School Sport and Club
Links strategy. Schools will be automatically assessed for one of
the marks through the national school sport survey, which all
School Sport Partnership schools take part in.
Following feedback from the 2006 awards,
the awarding criteria has changed slightly in 2007, so the criteria
will be as follows:

Schools will receive the mark
if:
-
The percentage of pupils participating in at least 2 hours high quality PE and school sport each week is significantly above the national average; and
-
they held a sports day; and
-
they had met or bettered the national average for pupils involved in sports leadership and volunteering (this would not apply to infant schools), or, the percentage of pupils participating in sports clubs linked to their school.
Sportsmark
2007
Schools will receive the mark
if:
-
The percentage of pupils participating in at least 2 hours high quality PE and school sport each week is significantly above the national average; and
-
the school held a sports day; and
-
the school met or bettered the national average in three or more of the following areas;
-
percentage of pupils taking part in inter-school competitive sport;
-
the range of sports the school offers;
-
the percentage of pupils participating in sports clubs linked to their school; or
-
the percentage of pupils actively involved in sports leadership and volunteering.
-
Sports Partnership Mark
2007
Partnerships will receive the mark
if:
-
at least 90 per cent of pupils across the partnership were doing at least 2 hours high quality PE and school sport each week.
In addition, in all cases, an
over-riding condition will apply whereby holders of the 2006
awards would be automatically awarded the 2007 awards if they have
maintained or improved their provision in all key
areas.
Awarding
Process
The list of successful schools will be
published shortly after the results of the 2006-07 School Sport
Survey are announced in the autumn of 2007. Certificates will be
sent directly to schools. An e-mail will be sent to Partnership
Development Managers informing them of the schools in their
partnership have been awarded an Activemark or Sportsmark. They
will then be able to download the logos from the School Sport
Xchange (ssx.youthsporttrust.org/subpage/welcome/index.htm) for
them to distribute to schools.
