Surrey County FA Leadership and Volunteering Camp 2010
 
The Surrey County FA Young Leadership Camp is taking place on Thursday 8th April 2010 at Chessington Community College. The camp is aimed at male and female young leaders aged between 14-18 years. The young leaders must be in school, college or currently volunteering in a FA Charter Standard Club. The course will start at 10am and finish at 4pm. The cost for this years camp is £8.00 per person.
 
This years camp will involve a whole variety of learning opportunities around leadership skills, team building and football in general.
 
Two people from this County Camp will also be selected to attend the prestigious FA National Young Leadership Camp.
 
Furthermore at the County camp we will also be selecting a number of young leaders to help the Surrey County FA organise and run our 2011 Young Leaders Camp and will also be recruiting for volunteers to help the Surrey FA plan and organise the Surrey Youth Games football activities.   
 
Further to this, you must be completing, or have completed, a leadership or football qualification. You must also commit to volunteering in an FA Charter Standard Club after the event and make use of the new skills and knowledge you have learnt by passing these on to supporting grassroots football, for which you will then receive, a certificate of recognition.
 
The deadline for applications is Thursday 1st April 2010 and unfortunately late applications cant be considered.

FA Junior Football Organisers Course
A course to train students aged 14-19 years to be young leaders.
The course supports the Step into Sport Programme.
Duration 6.5 hours
Minimum age 14 years

Aims & Objectives
- To provide an understanding of leading and organising football events for young players
- To learn the theory and practical aspects of warming up and cooling down
- To understand safety considerations when organising football sessions
- To understand practical delivery aspects of sessions, planning and using resource cards
- To introduce mini soccer games/rules
- To understand what happens next for players and leaders
Theory
- Preparing to play
- Fundamental movement skills
- Safety and safeguarding children
- Refereeing mini soccer
- STEP principle (Space, Task, Equipment, People)
- Basic introduction to the FA LTPD 4 course model
- Organising festivals or mini tournaments
- FA leadership and Volunteering Programme
Practical
- Fundamental warm up
- Game related activities for 5-11 year olds
- Refereeing mini soccer
