Are you an athlete with talent?  Are you in the county set-up,  nationally ranked in your sport, or part of talent squad?  If yes, then this information is for you!

 

There are several ways which you can be supported to become the best you can.

 

TRAINING 4 SUCCESS CONFERENCE - Tuesday 15th May 2007

This years event, held at Winston Churchill Sports Centre, aimed to provide local talented athletes with useful information on a range of skills and techniques they could use to improve strength and conditioning or confidence during performance.

FACS - FREE ACCESS FOR COUNTY SPORTSPEOPLE

If you are competing for/training within a County Squad you may be eligible to access the local leisure centres in your area for FREE!

 
For conditions (e.g., age restrictions), and to apply, call your local Leisure team (you must be a resident of the borough/ district you apply to join):

FANS - FREE ACCESS FOR NATIONAL SPORTSPEOPLE

FANS is for athletes ranked in the top 10 nationally (for their age group) for their chosen sport.

To help you with your training, you can access 3 sports/leisure centres (choose from a county-wide selection) free of charge and also receive a host of other benefits including discounts at sports injury clinics and regular updates from the FANS team.

TASS - TALENTED ATHLETE SUPPORT SCHEME

TASS started in September 2004 and is designed to provide bursaries & scholarships to "elite sports students" in Further & Higher Education between the ages of 16 & 25 years of age.
 
Universities can receive up to £3,000 for each elite sports person to provide them with additional services such as sports science, sports medicine, mentoring, coaching, etc, and up to £1,000 to provide a similar service for nominated FE & 6th Form elite sports students. 
 
National Governing Bodies of sport will nominate individuals for this initiative.  Contact your College or University sports association/department or click here for further information.
 

 

GIFTED & TALENTED PROGRAMMES

These are programmes run within schools to support sportspeople to achieve both sporting and academic excellence.  Contact your teacher for more information. 

 

STARS

The Student Talented Athlete Recognition Scheme at Royal Holloway, University of London provides wide-ranging active support to assist student elite athletes in achieveing their full potential during their time at the college, in their combined sports and academic performances.

SPORTING CHAMPIONS

100 of the UK's best up & coming, established or retired sports people spend time each year visiting schools, youth groups, sporting events and clubs to talk about their experiences to help inspire more people to start, stay and succeed in sport.  There are about a dozen visits a year in Surrey - applications for visits are made through Active Surrey or the Youth Sports Trust.
