COACHES LIABILITY INSURANCE
Would you go on holiday without adequate insurance? Chances are nothing will happen to ruin your trip, but what if it did? Coaches insurance should be thought of in the same way - just in case something happens, it is essential that all sports coaches should be properly covered by insurance for any activity they lead.
WHO CAN GET INSURANCE COVER?
Generally, only those coaches qualified at Level 1 or above will be able to become insured (NB some NGB's require a Level 2 qualification).
If you are unqualified, you are advised to work with a qualified, insured coach, or ensure that the club, local authority or leisure centre employing you has adequate cover that protects both you and your pupils.
HOW DO I GET INSURANCE COVER?
Many National Governing Bodies (NGBs) offer insurance to coaches either as part of their membership fee or within the price of coaching qualifications.
sports coach UK (scUK) also offer insurance which will cover you for any sports you are qualified in, and so may work out cheaper.
