COMMUNITY SPORTS COACH SCHEME

 

 

NEWS RELEASE - MONDAY 8 JANUARY 2007

 
The Active Surrey Sports Partnership is delighted to welcome in the new Year by announcing another round of funding to help organisations employ full-time and/or part-time Sports Coaches within Surrey as part of the national Community Sports Coach Scheme.
 
The Community Sports Coach Scheme (CSCS) aims to establish, across the country, a network of paid, qualified Community Sports Coaches working at local level.  These posts will increase the number and range of high-quality coaching opportunities according to strategic and local need.
 
Surrey organisations can now apply for funding through the Lottery Community Investment Fund; up to £36,000 is available per coach to help with employment costs over a 3 year contract.  (NB Organisations would need to match fund applications on a 2:1 basis). 
 
These posts will increase the number and range of coaching opportunities according to strategic and local need.  It is intended that the scheme will result in:
The funding available through the scheme is one element of the overall strategic approach being taken by members of the Active Surrey Sports Partnership to develop the coaching workforce in Surrey, including attracting new people into coaching and support for existing coaches working in a voluntary capacity.

  • Assessment of Bids by Surrey Better Coaches & Leaders Group by 26 Feb 2007
  • Final Bids to be completed by Employing Organisations by 16 March 2007 
  • Decision made by Regional Sports Board by end April 2007
  • Advertising of positions to commence during May 2007 
  • Positions filled by 30 June 2007
