Courses
This is the entry level for coaches
wanting to work on the water. It qualifies coaches to
organise a group safely on the water including undertaking a risk
assessment and teaching pupils early sculling and rowing
progressions.
Requirements: Coaches do not have to
have completed the Dry Instructors Award prior to attending the IA,
but must be an ARA member and aged 16+.

This Award offers considerable
progression from the IA. The ARA recommends that coaches
complete a minimum of 200 hours coaching from completion of the
Instructors Award before undertaking the Bronze Award. The BA
qualifies you to introduce a group to a structured and progressive
programme both on & off the water to include open
competitions.
Requirments: ARA member; ARA Instructor
Award holder; minimum 200 hours coaching experience; minimum age 18
years old; attended scUK Good Practice & Child
Protection workshop; attended scUK Equity in Your Coaching
workshop.

This Award offers considerable
progression from the BA. The ARA recommends that coaches
complete a minimum of 400 hours coaching from completion of the
Bronze Award before undertaking the Silver Award. The SA
qualifies you to progress a group to a higher level
including major national and some international competitions or
deliver innovative programmes to participants at a local
level.
Requirments: ARA member; ARA Bronze
Award holder; minimum 400 hours coaching experience (post Bronze);
minimum age 18 years old;
